Whether you are newly diagnosed or have been HIV-positive for years, connecting with others is a powerful way to get information and support around living with HIV. The CAPS Program provides one-on-one and group support programming, as well as referrals to other community resources for support. CAPS programming includes Peer Perspectives, Positive Perspectives Support Group, and Pride Institute Support Group.
Peer Perspectives
A one-on-one encounter with a CAPS Peer Volunteer who has been living with HIV, facilitated by CAPS staff.
This program is designed for individuals looking for one-on-one support from a peer living with HIV trained by Hennepin County to provide support to others living with HIV. Peer encounters are facilitated by CAPS staff, who connect you with a peer volunteer.

Positive Perspectives Support Group
An HIV aftercare support group for HIV-positive individuals in recovery from addiction.
This support group provides an opportunity for those living with HIV and in recovery to talk about HIV in the context of addiction and explore the impact of chemical health on HIV (and the other way around). Meet guys who have "been there" and get it. Group meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month from 430-6pm at a confidential location in downtown Minneapolis.

Partner Services and Couples Support
Appointments are available for individual and couples counseling around HIV and safer sex.
Opportunities to discuss sex and negotiating safety in relationships are available on an ongoing basis. Appointments are confidential, and can either be conducted one-on-one with CAPS staff or as a couple. We are happy to work with individuals around reducing HIV transmission risk, negotiating safety, regular HIV/STD screening, condom and lube access, and other issues relating to HIV and sex.

Pride Institute Support Group
An HIV/chemical health support group for HIV-positive individuals undergoing in-patient chemical dependency treatment at Pride Institute.
This support group is co-facilitated by CAPS staff and Pride Institute staff on site for in-patient treatment clients. This group is not open to the public. If you are about to enter Pride Institute for treatment, feel free to contact CAPS staff to request more information about the group, or ask during your intake at Pride.
